Dr. Adil Dhalla, Managing Director of START Centre, was honoured to speak at the 4th International Workshop on Membrane Distillation and Innovating Membrane Operations in Desalination and Water Reuse, held from June 4–6, 2025 at the Grand Hotel San Michele, Cetraro (CS), Italy.

This year’s workshop continued the legacy of the traditional MD workshops founded by Prof. Enrico Drioli (Institute on Membrane Technology – National Research Council of Italy, CNR-ITM). A special session was dedicated to Prof. Drioli in recognition of his visionary and foundational contributions to the fields of Membrane Contactors, Water Treatment, Desalination, and Process Intensification.

The workshop brought together leading researchers and experts from across the globe to share the latest developments and breakthroughs in membrane distillation and its wide-ranging applications. The event featured a dynamic line-up of presentations, fostering rich discussions, collaborations, and new partnerships.

On June 5th, participants also attended a joint session between the Melodizer and Measured projects, both funded by the European Union under the HORIZON-CL4-2022-RESILIENCE-01-14 call, further highlighting the importance of collaborative research in advancing membrane technologies.

START Centre is pleased to have contributed to this important platform for innovation, dialogue, and knowledge exchange in the water and membrane technology community.
